James "Eightch" Watson
Designer & Creative Director
James Watson is an American electronic musician, composer, sound designer, designer and creative director best known for his long-running solo project Eightch. Founded in 2002, Eightch explores the intersection of ambient, drone, industrial, experimental electronics, and modular synthesis, drawing inspiration from artists such as COIL, Nine Inch Nails, Autechre, and Pan Sonic. Over more than two decades, Watson has developed a distinctive sonic language centered on texture, atmosphere, and emotional storytelling rather than traditional song structures. Beyond his work as a musician, Watson is the Designer and Creative Director of FAKE MOON, a multidisciplinary design studio focused on art, design, fashion, and digital product development, spanning physical and digital experiences across a variety of creative industries. A frequent performer at synthesizer festivals and industry events, he has collaborated with leading music technology brands including Korg and has presented his work at events such as Knobcon, Synth Expo, NAMM, and Synthplex. In addition to his recording and live performance work, Watson composes for film, multimedia, and immersive audiovisual projects, while remaining an active voice within the global synthesizer and electronic music community.
